Mekhi McKenzie departs for Concord Rangers

William Mallard-Smith

Striker Mekhi McKenzie has left Brightlingsea Regent to join division rivals Concord Rangers.

Brightlingsea Regent can confirm that summer signing striker Mekhi McKenzie has departed the club today, signing for fellow Essex-based Isthmian League North side Concord Rangers after six appearances for the R's.

Mekhi McKenzie linked up with Brightlingsea Regent in the summer, joining the R's from freshly promoted Stanway Rovers, who achieved promotion through the playoffs from the Isthmian League North. Starting in the playoff-final for Stanway, Mekhi achieved back-to-back promotions from the division, playing a huge role in Brentwood Town's title campaign.

Featuring in all five league games thus far for Brightlingsea Regent, as well as a substitute cameo against Ware in the FA trophy, he bagged Regent's only goal in the midweek clash against Canvey Island, following a skillful dribble into the edge of the box from Luca Terminiello, which Mekhi tapped past the Canvey goalkeeper after outpacing two Canvey defenders.

Switching from North Essex to South Essex, he joins a Concord Rangers side who currently sit in fifth place on seven points, narrowly ahead of the other five clubs on seven points through goal difference.

Despite being a short stint at North Road, everyone at Brightlingsea Regent is grateful for Mekhi's efforts in black and red and wishes him the best of luck for his future footballing ventures.
