Team News:
Following the referee's bold calls on Tuesday night, both Harry McDonald and Dan Rowe will be facing suspension, however, fortunately, Tom Cottle-Wood's late sending off his been overturned, making him available for selection on Saturday.
Another likely absentee from Tuesday is Charlie Collis, who was forced off in the 63rd minute due to a crunching tackle leading to a serious injury to the wrist. One positive for Saturday, is the likely return of Jake Clowsley, returning from a three-game suspension.
A look at the opposition:
Bowers & Pitsea were founded in 1946 as Bowers United, beginning in the Thurrock and Thameside Combination division, before becoming founding members of the Essex Olympian League in 1966. In 2004, they merged with Pitsea Football Club, taking on the current club's name.
Spending a majority of their time in the Eastern non-league system, they reached the seventh tier for the first time in 2019, achieving 92 points in the Isthmian League North. After a three-year spell in the division, Bowers returned to the eighth tier in 2024 but immediately bounced back for an instant return in the following campaign.
Currently back in the Isthmian League North, Bowers are on the hunt for yet another promotion, and under the management of Joe Flower, find themselves in seventh position. Despite initially starting the campaign in poor form, they remain unbeaten in their last five league outings, after a one-nil victory over Grays Athletic on Tuesday night.
Last time we met:
Our last clash with Bowers came on the 28th of March this calendar year, in a game which saw Regent pick up the three points through an early Harry McDonald goal. Although Bowers & Pitsea went into the fixture in a much more promising position in the table, Brightlingsea Regent kept the opposition attack at bay, ultimately retaining a clean sheet.
McDonald's goal came in the 12th minute. Skillfully turning past Bowers' midfielder Luca Albon, the R's midfielder rifled the ball into the top left corner past the outstretched arm of the opposition goalkeeper.
