Under 13s seal the title in style.

Regent U13s travelled to Feering Falcons ground in Marks Tey for a B league title Play off against Lawford, a team we have played 7 times this season so definitely a team we knew all about. The pitch was decent, with a slight slope, the game being played in a strong wind, Regent played into the wind and up the slight slope in the first half so knew we had to be on our game to be still in it at half time.

The game started as expected with both teams giving their all trying to get a foothold in the game. Chances were hard to come by until Jacob Castle who had a brilliant game played a brilliant ball up the line, to leading scorer Aidan Darby who did what Aidan does and placed the ball into the net 1:0 Regent.
The game carried on in the same vein, things being pretty tight, Lawford putting us under some pressure from set pieces forcing Oscar Finbow into a great save. As the half came to a close Aidan Darby was put clean through by a brilliant ball from Jack Beard, Aidan set himself and smashed the ball towards goal only for it to go over the bar, Aidan made amends a few minutes later when a free kick from Zac Levett wasn’t dealt with by the Lawford defence, Aidan headed into the far corner to make it 2:0.

The second half started with Zac Levett taking a shot straight from kick off which wasn’t far off target at all, it didn’t take long for the third to go in this time set up by 20 Goal leading scorer Aidan Darby and squeezed in by Luca Sayer, Luca was another who had a brilliant game, works tirelessly for the team and battles for everything.

The game was over as a contest and it was just a matter of how many we could score. The fourth was a terrific finish by Jack Beard running onto the ball and placing it into the far corner. Number 5 soon followed from Samuel Kerr with a great bit of skill placing the ball into the top corner. Even after that Aidan Darby was really close from a headed chance and Yusef Aslan hit the corner of the post and bar from a corner taken by Alex Hill.

Another brilliant performance by the U13s, built by the superb defence and Goalkeeper who went the whole season without conceding a goal away from home - unbelievable!! And only 9 goals in total. We have a hard working midfield unit who have some real class at times, upfront we really do have a mix of Pace / power, technical skill and great link up play.

So the season is finally over! What a season, what a team we have. The boys deserve so much credit, but I just want to mention Dave Phillips, who has really done a great job with the group, tactically and fitness we have excelled all season. Dave has made a massive difference since joining at the start of the season. A League football to look forward to next season, the boys deserve to be playing against the best and it will be great to see how we do.
