Eight Ash Green 0:7 Brightlingsea Regent U13s

Brightlingsea Regent U13s hit back in style today after a rare defeat in mid week to FC Clacton, the boys travelled to Colchester to play league leaders Eight Ash Green, the game being played on a beautiful 4G pitch at Phillip Morant school. The game being played in scorching hot heat, with drinks break half way through each half.
The game started with a brilliant break from Regent with Aidan Darby forcing the Eight Ash keeper into a brilliant double save. It didn't take Regent long to take the lead with a great goal created by Giorgio Phillips are brilliantly finished by Luca Sayer. Eight Ash play some really nice football, moving the ball around really nicely, they forced Regent keeper Oscar Finbow into a smart save, but other than that that the midfield 4 of Jack Beard, Samuel Kerr, Luca Sayer and Giorgio Phillips with the brilliant back 4 of Billy Wiggins, Zac Levett, Alfie Behn and Jacob Castle dealt with most things Eight Ash had to offer. Mid way through the half Samuel Kerr made it 2:0 from a corner assisted by Jack Beard, after that it was pretty much one way traffic for the rest of the half, the third goal came from the impressive Aidan Darby assisted by Zac Levett, whose free kicks are really starting to cause teams trouble. Shortly after the fourth came from the hardworking Reuben Purkiss again assisted by Jack Beard. The fifth came direct from a corner, a great ball in from Jack Beard which made the keeper carry over the line.
What a half of football from the boys - brilliant from start to finish.
HT 5:0

The second half started with a couple of substitutions, Yusef Aslan, Alex Hill and Rafe Chapman coming on, Rafe has been superb in recent weeks playing in a variety of positions, really important member of the squad. The second half was a little more even, without conceding any real clear cut chances, anything that did get through was dealt with really well by Oscar Finbow. Regent scored their sixth through another sub, Hector Harvey, after some great hold play by Aidan Darby he played the ball into Hectors feet who finished brilliantly into the far corner. With a few minutes to go Luca Sayer put a brilliant cross field ball in to Aidan Darby who finished expertly into the far corner

FT 7:0

What a brilliant performance from Regent, who dealt with the brilliant ball retention of Eight Ash Green so well, never looking in trouble. This group have come so far. It comes down to the final game of the season to decide the league title, if the boys win next Sunday it likely there will be a play off for the actual title of B league winners, I personally think after 16 games the title should be shared.
We couldn't be prouder of their achievements so far , lets hope there is plenty more to come.
