Brightlingsea Regent U13s 5:0 Cornard U13s Reds

Brightlingsea Regent U13s played host to Cornard U13s Reds this morning, the home pitch looking in superb condition, and weather conditions being pretty good apart from a strong breeze. The boys run continued thanks to a hat trick from Reuben Purkiss and goals from Hector Harvey and a great individual goal from Luca Sayer.
This was a really good performance against a team that in the past have caused us a few problems, Regent dominated the 70 minutes and never looked under any pressure. We were 2 nil up inside 15 minutes with a couple of great goals, Samuel Kerr and Alex Hill dominating the middle of the pitch, Jack Beard and Luca Sayer stretching the width. The third came shortly after with an assist from Luca and a strong finish from Reuben. The rest of the half was really all about when the next goal would go in, with Aidan Darby beating his opponent time and time again but just not finding the back of the net.
Defensively Rafe Chapman and Zac Levett were in total control, Billy Wiggins continues to improve and Jacob Castle is proving to be a great signing.

Ht3:0

The second half started with Regent making a few subs Ed Bryant, Henry Tither and Max Kerr all coming on, the subs didn’t affect the performance with Regent hitting the post. Jack Beard fired in a great shot which the Cornard keeper did well to save, the rebound came out to Aidan Darby who did everything right but was really unlucky to hit the post. Soon after Reuben got his hat trick from a rebound after his first shot hit the post. Regent continued to dominate and following another couple of subs Hector Harvey and Lindon Berisha coming on. Goal number 5 came from a corner played in by Jack Beard and superbly headed in at the far post by Hector Harvey for his first of the season.
Ft 5:0

Great performance from the boys, with some excellent performances out there. We should add our fantastic defence have now kept 7 consecutive clean sheets, Oscar Finbow and his Back 4 have been nothing short of fantastic and really consistent which is a huge quality to have at this age. We gave Man of the Match to 2 players who were quite simply outstanding -
Zac Levett was always in total control defending seems so simple for him, some of his passing out of defence is real quality, he looks like he is really enjoying his football.
Rafe Chapman stepped into CB to cover for Injured Alfie Behn, he was superb, really stood out , defended, battled and passed the ball really well.

Another home game next week against Halstead Town. A win is vital if we are to maintain our place in the battle for the title.
