Superb U13s extend unbeaten run to 10 games.

Brightlingsea Regent U13s travelled away to unbeaten Lawford this lunch time, Lawford being the last and only team to beat us in the league so far this season. Lawford sit joint top with Regent 3 points behind in third. It was a massive game for both teams in the race for the title and promotion to the A league. Games between the 2 have always been close and very competitive. The game started with Regent on top, starting really brightly with Aidan and Giorgio linking up down the right, Giorgio putting in a terrific ball which just evaded Reuben right in front of the goal. Chances came and went, with both Reuben and Aidan hitting the woodwork and Aidan again just wide from a snap shot. Giorgio had an effort that went just wide after a deflection. Lawford had offered very little but then had the chance of the game, when the Lawford midfielder somewhere managed to miss from a couple of yards out. Seconds later Regent took the lead, once again it was Aidan who placed the ball into the far corner. It all came from a corner that wasn’t cleared and a couple of half shots before eventually the ball rolled over the line. 0:1
The first half had been brilliant football from the U13s, dominating the midfield through Samuel and Rafe (who had a great game) with great support from Giorgio and Luca on the right and left. The defence coped with anything that came there way and as always dependable Oscar in goal. The 2 boys up front had the Lawford defence in real trouble.

The second half started with Regent continuing to dominate and it seemed only a matter of time before the second goal went in, and when it did what a goal it was Jacob from right back put in a great ball to Reuben Purkiss who coolly volleyed home 2:0
Lawford had there best spell of the game in the next 10 minutes hitting the post and forcing Oscar into a couple of smart saves, Regent kept battling hard and soon got back on top, soon after after making a couple of changes we put the game to bed, firstly another ball in from Giorgio to Aidan was finished expertly by Aidan and the fourth was another cross for Giorgio to Aidan who finished brilliantly for another hat trick. The game was over a contest and Regent completed a brilliant victory over a side that had been unbeaten all season. As for us that now 10 games unbeaten and 6 clean sheets on the trot.
Man of the match - A very difficult decision this week, all 14 players played superbly and deserving of a mention. But one player has been outstanding for weeks without picking up the award - Samuel Kerr, totally dominated the midfield from start to finish and put through a number of through balls in the first half that put the Lawford defence on the back foot.
