Stanway Rovers Yellows 0-3 Brightlingsea Regent U13s

Brightlingsea Regent U13s took the short journey to Spring Lane this morning to take on Stanway Rovers Yellows in their second game back since lockdown. The pitch looked in great condition and with the sun shining it was a perfect day for football.
The game started with regent well on top and playing some great passing football, with Sammy Kerr and Jack Beard dominating the middle of the pitch, Jacob Castle and Giorgio Phillips linking up well down the right, it seemed like just a matter of time before the first goal came. when the goal eventually came it was from the left hand side, a driving run by Aidan Darby who played the ball through to Lindon Berisha, the ball just had a bit too much on it and keeper came out to clear but only scuffed it to Reuben Purkiss who got a shot off and ball rolled slowly into the net. The game carried on in the same manner with regent missing chance after chance. Finally the second goal came from the Penalty spot, after another goal mouth scramble a stanway player stopped the ball with his hand, giving Lindon Berisha the chance to extend the lead which he did confidently into the top left hand corner.
Half Time 0:2

The second half started with a few substitutions which included Team captain making his first appearance since the 1st of November! The game became a little more scrappy as time went on but once again Regent playing the better football and creating a number of chances, but as with the first half being quite wasteful in front of goal. With the last few seconds of the game, came the goal of the game with a move that involved numerous players assisted by Giorgio Phillips and smashed in first time by Aidan Darby.

FT 0:3

A good performance with some lovely football being played, just need to be more clinical in front of goal. Some really good performances individually, I could mention the whole team but will just highlight a couple - Sammy Kerr ran the show in midfield some great link up play, Aidan Darby normally known for his electric pace, but today his link up with Giorgio Phillips and overall work rate with top class. But we have gone with Jacob Castle as man of the match, in only his 3rd game for us he won every challenge, linked up well and put in a couple of great crosses in the first half that could easily have led to more goals - Well Done Jacob.
