Brightlingsea Regent U13s played their first game for nearly 4 months this lunch time. After being back training for just over a week we weren't expecting too much, but as usual with this group they came shining through. In the first half they played some great football, it was like they hadn’t been away.
Aidan Darby who is fast becoming a feared opponent scored our first goal after 4 minutes with a great finish at the near post, his pace and determination are such a weapon with a little more composure he could have had 3/4 more just in the first half. The second goal came about after we switched Luca and Reubens positions Luca moving out to the left and Reuben upfront. Within minutes Reuben scored a brilliant individual goal beating a couple of players before smashing the ball past the Reed Hall keeper. The third goal followed shortly after, a fantastic ball by Samuel and coolly headed in by Luca at the far post.
HT 3:0.
The second half started as per the first with another goal from Aidan Darby and what a goal this was, from way out on the right into a strong wind he crossed the ball over the keeper and in to the top of the net (by his own admission it was meant to be a cross ?). The 5th goal was another cracking effort from Henry Tither who left footed placed a shot into the near post giving the keeper no chance, and finally the 6th goal was a tap in from Lindon Berisha and some more great work by Reuben Purkiss.
It wasn’t the most polished performance but once again the boys efforts were there for all to see, a couple more games and we will be back up to speed.
FT 6:0.
Man of the match - a few candidates today but one player stood out - Reuben Purkiss.
A great goal and 3 assists- well done Reuben.
