Brightlingsea Regent U13s 2 : 2 Eight Ash Green

Regent U13s welcomed Eight Ash Green to the Bayard recreation ground last Sunday, Eight Ash are playing up a year but despite that, they are leading the way in the league winning 5 out of 5 and scoring an incredible 60 goals in those 5 games and conceding only 5!!
The game started with both teams playing some lovely football, good quality and highly competitive chances at a premium. Regent were far from being out played, Aidan Darby our powerful striker and Giorgio Phillips both causing problems down the right hand side. With 14 minutes on the clock Eight Ash Green took the lead, regent didn't clear their lines and ball landed kindly for the eight ash player who coolly lifted the ball into the far corner. The U13s responded brilliantly, a few minutes later a goal kick from Oscar Finbow bounced over the defence for Aidan Darby who controlled the ball and sprinted for goal, finishing expertly in to the far corner, an excellent goal to equalise. Regent were now on top with Sammy Kerr and Rafe Chapman starting to dominate the middle and the ever dependable back 4 of Zac Levett, Alfie Behn, Billy Wiggins and Alex Hill dealing with the attacking threat from Eight Ash. But it was Aidan Darby and Giorgio Phillips who were causing Eight Ash all the trouble, another attack from the right hand side left regent with players over Giorgio passed inside to Rafe Chapman who had Luca sayer free on his left but instead of passing lashed a great shot into the top corner, another brilliant goal and Regent were now leading 2:1. This is how it stayed until half time. HT 2:1
The second half was all about Eight Ash getting on top and the U13s defending brilliantly, and then hitting Eight Ash on the break, Reuben Perkiss and Lindon Berisha both causing Eight Ash problems. at the other end the defence and Oscar Finbow were quite simply brilliant, the tracking back and hard work from the midfield 4 of Sammy, Rafe, Jack Beard, Luca Sayer, Henry Tither and Giorgio Phillips limited the chances, but with 10 minutes to go a break down the Eight Ash left, and what looked like a foul on Alex Hill, ended with a shot squeezing through and rolling agonisingly over the line for the equaliser. 2:2
The U13s again responded well with both Reuben and Aidan going close to snatching the winner.
FT 2:2
A brilliant performance by the U13s who fully deserved their point and chances created should probably have snatched the win. the whole team stepped up and played superbly, a number of the boys having their best game of the season, one of those was Aidan Darby who was nothing short of brilliant, he had the eight ash defence panicking every time he ran at them and gave them no time on the ball at all.

Man of the match - Aidan Darby
