Brightlingsea Regent U12s lost a very tight game 0:1, in a game that was decided via a deflection from Captain Alex Hill.
In what now seems the norm with the U12s the first half was a tight affair, with chances at a premium. Both teams were playing some really nice stuff in midfield, Regent looking really dangerous when breaking from midfield, the best chance of the half came from a break by Samuel Kerr who played the ball to Yusef Aslan who played a brilliant ball through to Leo Buabeng who was clean through on Goal, his left footed effort saved by the keeper at the near post. Yusef had another good chance which slipped past the far post. Regent were well on top in the first half but went in all level. HT 0:0
The second half was a very even affair, but Layer Colts got the all important break through with 18 minutes left, a corner came across and after a couple of blocks a shot came in which was going straight into Goalkeeper Oscar Finbow hands but a stretched out leg from Alex Hill deflected the shot into the far corner of the net. 0:1
The next 10 minutes Regent were camped in the Layer cots half with numerous chances coming and going, Rafe Chapman forced the keeper into a couple of saves, Freya Hatch forced a double save, Henry Tither Yusef Aslan and Sammy Kerr all having chances.
FT 0:1
On another day the U12s win comfortably, just one of those days. We have played worse and won.
Man of the match - some notable performances today, Henry Tither did very well in the second half, Yusef Aslan has a great first half, as usual the back 3 were comfortable Billy Wiggins , Alex Hill and of course Zac Levett. I went for the consistent Samuel Kerr, who did everything to try and get us a deserved equaliser.
