U12s slip to narrow home defeat.

Brightlingsea Regent U12s slipped to a narrow home defeat to Frinton and Walton Blues.

As normal with the U12s the game was very competitive, with not a lot in it and nothing more than half chances created. Mid way through the half Frinton started to get on top and came really close to taking the lead when after a great save from Oscar Finbow the rebound shot hit the post and bounced out. Shortly afterwards Frinton did take the lead when a through ball put the striker through and he finished well in the far corner. There was a hint of offside to the pass through.

Brightlingsea started to create a little more and were given a free kick right on the edge of the box, Alex Hill stepped up and shot which clipped the wall and deflected just over the bar.

Half time 0:1

The second began with Regent now on top and pushing Frinton back, without creating many chances. Then on the break Frinton doubled their lead, their striker breaking down the left and cutting in before finishing high into the left hand side of the goal.
0:2
Brightlingsea were pushing for a goal back now and Frinton hitting us on the break. Yusef Aslan almost scored his first goal for the team as he poked the ball through but is slipped just past the far post.
Zac Levett intercepted a through ball and took it past a couple of midfielders before letting fly with a Zac special, which went straight through the keeper and into the back of the net. 1:2
We were really pushing for the equaliser now, driven forward by Samuel Kerr and Yusef Aslan, a series of corners in the last minute couldn’t produce an equaliser.
Only a second league defeat of the season for Brightlingsea.

Man of the match - Alex Hill and Zac Levett

I have given joint man of the match awards mainly due to Zac scoring a great goal and holding the defence together and Alex putting in another consistent performance despite playing with an injured knee, he kept going right to the end.
