Late Late winner for Brightlingsea U12s

A last minute winner from Dexter Bellhouse gave Brightlingsea Regent U12s a vital 3 points in a game that we never looked comfortable. Outstanding performances from Samuel Kerr, Captain Alex Hill and Zac Levett helped Regent overcome a dogid Clacton reds who can feel very disappointed not to have come away with something from a tight game.

The first half started pretty evenly, with Clacton having the better of the chances and pushing us back, we looked dangerous on the break with both Lindon Berisha and Bailey Barton having opportunities. A great double save by Oscar Finbow kept the score at 0:0. After 20 minutes a nice bit of play gave Rafe Chapman an opening, he took the early shot which managed to go through the goal keeper and into the net. 1:0 Regent. There was no further goals in the first half.
The second half started the same way with Clacton pushing us back and Brightlingsea looking to play on the counter. 10 minutes into the Clacton got a fortuitous equaliser- a Clacton midfielder put a high ball into the area which managed to go into the net right under the crossbar, 5 minutes later and it was 2:1 to Clacton after a shot managed to find its way into the net. Brightlingsea were on the rack but managed to pull it round mainly due to some strong tackling and brilliant driving runs from Samuel Kerr. It was Samuel who managed to get the equaliser taking a shot on that managed to squeeze through the keeper 2:2. Then Alex Hill won the ball on the right played a lovely ball through to Samuel Kerr who battled through a couple of tackles played the ball to Rafe Chapman who took a decent shot which the keeper made a good save, a following scramble and ball fell to Dexter Bellhouse who Cooly smashed the ball into back of the net 2:3 to Regent. The Boys managed to hold out with no further drama.
Very proud of the balls desire to keep going today, man of the match was between 3 players today. Alex Hill was outstanding throughout the game and is becoming very consistent performer, Zac Levett another player who performs week after week, he reads the game so well and his pace gets us out of trouble time after time. But I have decided to go for Samuel Kerr due to his driving runs and tough tackling pulling us through a very tough match.

Man of the Match - Samuel Kerr
