MATCH PREVIEW
Brightlingsea Regent host Haringey Borough in our penultimate match of the season and our final game at North Road for 2021-22.
It’s a huge one for the R’s, almost a must win after Good Friday’s defeat to Hornchurch. Thankfully results elsewhere meant no damage was done as all of the bottom 5 dropped points.
Brett Munyard knows that if his Regent side seal victory tomorrow then that would be enough to mathematically establish Step 3 football for next season, a feat that Regent have achieved for the last six seasons
Haringey Borough however are no mugs, having already beaten the R’s twice this season, in the league and Velocity Cup.
The last 6 meetings between the two sides, doesn’t make good reading for the R’s, as Boro have beaten Regent on all of those occasions. Scoring 16 goals in the process!
Despite the dominance, Haringey sit just one place above the R’s in the table, but 5 points separates the two teams. The host have everything to play for, whereas our visitors are just here to play out the season.
LAST TIME OUT
The last meeting between the two sides was on New Years Day, where the host ran out with a three nil victory.
An opening goal from an Ade Cole volley before the half hour mark, then nine minutes later Jorge Djassi-Sambu doubled the lead.
Andronicos Georgiou completed the scoring from the spot in the second half, as the R’s were unable to get a foothold back into the game!
CURRENT FORM
Brightlingsea Regent – LLLWL
Brightlingsea Regent have now only won once in their last five matches, and that was their last home match against promotion chasers Enfield Town
Defeats previously to Potters Bar Town, Cheshunt and Corinthian-Casuals prior to this, with Saturday’s defeat at Hornchurch.
The form book now means nothing though, as tomorrow’s match is now labelled as a ‘Cup Final’
Haringey Borough - DDLLL
Boro haven’t been in the best of form of late either, and are without a win in their previous seven!
Saturday saw them go down 4-2 to Play-off chasers Cheshunt in a fiery game with both teams reduced to ten men.
Prior to this, defeats on the road to Horsham and Champions Worthing, with an away goalless draw at Corinthian-Casual and a home goalless blank with Bowers & Pitsea make up the previous five.
In fact, Haringey have only recorded one victory on the road in their last seven journeys!
DANGERMAN
David Olufemi - Wing Back
Olufemi is Haringey Borough’s top goalscorer this season with ten goals, a great return for a player that is majorly considered as a defender, but is very much an attack minded Wing Back.
Olufemi progressed through the Colchester United Academy, breaking into the first-team in 2013. He made 26 appearances for Colchester United before his release in 2016.
He then joined Hayes & Yeading United and then moved to Haringey Borough. Last season he signed for Concord Rangers before returning to Boro in the summer.
