MATCH PREVIEW
Brightlingsea Regent travel to high flyers Hornchurch on Good Friday in an Easter Weekend double header.
A huge win for Regent moved them up to 18th in the table on Saturday, a victory relevant to our next opponents as it was over Enfield Town, who also occupy a play-off place.
Brett Munyard will be buoyant after an impressive victory, but will know the job isn’t done just yet, but he will know we’re half way up that mountain, just a few more points are required to reach that all important peak.
Hornchurch pose another difficult test for the R’s, they are arguably the best team we’ve played this season at North Road, but the confidence can be felt amongst the dressing room, so we go to Bridge Avenue in a much better position then anticipated prior to last weekend
LAST TIME OUT
The last meeting between the two sides was at the beginning on 2022, when the Urchins ran out 5-1 victors.
Regent found themselves 3-0 down at the interval through goals from Lewwis Spence, Tom Wraight and Ola Ogunwamide. A forth was added by Toni Joseph before Chris Ribchester got his first goal of the season. Charlie Ruff completed the scoring with Hornchurch’s fifth.
CURRENT FORM
Brightlingsea Regent – DLLLW
Brightlingsea Regent turned around a recent run of three defeats to take the points over a rampant Enfield Town team that had won 6 on the spin!
Before that, losses to Corinthian-Casuals, Cheshunt and Potters Bar saw the R’s languishing near to the drop zone, but an all important contrast of form have moved the R’s within sight of safety.
Hornchurch - WWDWW
The Urchins are certainly in fine fettle at the moment. A 5-0 victory on Sunday, which happened to help Regent out, over Cray Wanderers, has seen them move to six unbeaten
Before the weekend, there were victories over Cheshunt, Carshalton Athletic and Corinthian-Casuals with a home draw with Bognor Regis Town sandwiched in the middle of the previous five.
DANGERMAN
Tom Wraight - Midfielder
It’s hard to single out one particular player at Hornchurch, as they have an excellent team, but one that I have personally admired for a while is Tom Wraight.
The former Chelmsford City, Maidstone United and East Thurrock star has produced at every club he’s played for, including a hat full of goals at National League level.
Tom has 13 goals from Midfield and numerous assists this season after joining from Chelmsford City. He is a versatile hardworking player who makes things happen. He is key to this Hornchurch team!
HOSPITALITY
The club bar is opposite the entrance to the ground and serves a selection of beers, wines and spirits. They also have 2 televisions which shows SKY or BT Sports televised games.
The bar area overlooks the playing pitch so provides an excellent raised view of the game should you prefer to watch the game from inside the clubhouse. The back of the clubhouse leads onto the decked terrace, also known as ‘Hasbeen’s Hill’, which again provides an excellent raised vantage point from which to view the game.
The Urchins also have a decent club shop situated just outside the bar area opposite the entrance to the ground. The shop sells a variety of merchandise and is well worth a look.
