MATCH PREVIEW
Brightlingsea Regent host Enfield Town following on from Saturday’s defeat to Corinthian-Casuals.
Defeat Saturday leaves Regent sitting just outside of the relegation places but only the minutest of points separates the R’s from the drop zone.
Brett Munyard commented on BBC Essex Radio on Saturday that “Mountains are there to be climbed, and we’ve got to start climbing!” He couldn’t have put it any better with the huge task ahead, first up is a Promotion chaser in Enfield Town, just to get an inch up that steep hill.
The table is extremely tight now, with East Thurrock and Leatherhead in form and picking up points over recent weeks, cutting that deficit. It’s certainly “Squeaky bum time”
LAST TIME OUT
The last meeting between the two sides was was way back in August, only the second game of the season, when the R’s lost 2 nil, despite a good performance on the day.
A goal after 40 minutes from Percy Kiangebeni was enough to separate the two sides before Ebrima Sawaneh sealed victory in the 90th minute as the R’s pushed for a leveller.
CURRENT FORM
Brightlingsea Regent – DDLLL
No one needs reminding that the R’s haven’t won in their last five matches. Defeat on Saturday to Corinthian-Casuals has really sucked Regent into that dreaded drop zone.
The form guide doesn’t look good.. but it’s time to roll up those sleeves, forget the ‘what could have beens’, and battle every breath in these last four matches and see what happens!
Enfield Town - WWWWW
Town are top of that earlier mentioned form table. Five wins on the spin over Horsham, Merstham, Leatherhead, Corinthian-Casuals and Hornchurch has seen them rise to 3rd in the league table.
Manager Andy Leese has this week been awarded the Vita Solutions Manager of the month for March, let’s hope that is the curse we need for Saturday!
DANGERMAN
Muhammadu Faal - Striker
You can’t mention Enfield Town without mentioning Faal! A whopping 37 goals in 46 appearances this season for the Towners has seen him as the runaway leader in the golden boot race!
The-Hackney-born forward is in his second spell with Town, where he found the net 20 times which earnt him a move to Bolton Wanderers, then later he moved on loan to Barnet before returning. Faal has also had spells with Dulwich Hamlet and Kingstonian along with Boreham Wood where he came through Wood’s academy.
To give the Regent supporters some hope though, or better known as ‘commentators curse’, Brightlingsea Regent are the only Isthmian Premier League side that Faal has failed to score against this season! Let’s hope that remains the case at quarter to 5 on Saturday.
