MATCH PREVIEW
Brightlingsea Regent travel to Potters Bar Town’s LA Construction stadium after picking up 5 points in their last 3 matches. The hosts on the other hand have had an upturn in form since our last fixture driving themselves up the table and clear from the relegation zone.
Munyard’s men come into this fixture full of confidence, picking up 5 points, with Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Carshalton Athletic, the R’s felt they had the better of the chances to take all the points. Despite this, a point was enough to see Regent move out of the drop zone after Cray Wanderer’s defeat to Bowers & Pitsea on Sunday.
LAST TIME OUT
After the original fixture was rearranged to a Tuesday night due to floodlight failure, the R’s dominated on a cold January evening winning the match 2-0.
Goals from Valter Rocha and Aaron Blair sealed victory after the break which saw Regent bounce back after 4 successive defeats. For Bar, this was a 4th defeat on-the-trot which, at the time, looked crucial in the battle to avoid the drop zone!
CURRENT FORM (ALL COMPS)
Brightlingsea Regent – LLWDD
Regent are now unbeaten in 3 matches following defeats to Margate and Bowers & Pitsea. Since then though, victory at Horsham and draws at home to Folkestone Invicta and Carshalton Athletic has seen the resurgence of Munyard’s Red & Black army.
Victory this weekend, on non-league day, could potentially move Regent closer to securing step 3 status next season with a target of 7 points from the final 7 matches.
Potters Bar Town – DLWWL
Newly appointed Sammy Moore has certainly turned the fortunes round at Bar. Since the middle of February they have picked up 16 points moving their tally onto 44 points and 12th in the league table.
However, Saturday saw Bar go down 3-0 to the Champions elect Worthing at home, prior to this, there were victories over Margate and Carshalton Athletic which followed a draw at home to Wingate & Finchley and defeat to title chasers Hornchurch.
DANGERMAN
Joseph Boachie - Winger
Boachie has netted 7 times this season in 26 appearances for the club. The pacy wideman was previously with Concord Rangers, Dagenham & Redbridge and Stamford AFC, where he was named in the 2018/19 Evo-Stik Team of the Season after a string of eye-catching performances.
His bio reads “Boachie is an intelligent and creative left-footed attacking midfielder / number 10 with the physicality and athleticism that suits the modern game. He has good vision and technique, and can also play on the left wing or as a striker. Operating between the lines he drops deep and can run at defences or play through balls to open up opponents.”
He is certainly one to watch out for on Saturday!
GENERAL ADMISSION PRICES
With the match being part of Non-League Day, Potters Bar Town are offering a ‘pay what you like’ on the day.
Hopefully many of you will take advantage of this very generous offer and cheer on the Regent!
