MATCH PREVIEW
Brightlingsea Regent entertain Cheshunt tonight under the lights of North Road for the final time this season.
After Saturdays defeat to Potters Bar, the R’s still find themselves just above the drop zone, but with tonight’s contest being the game in hand on Cray Wanderers, it’s a crucial fixture.
Brett Munyard returns to the dugout tonight after his 6 match lay-off, where we are also told that he has a full squad available tonight, the only notable absentee will be Valter Rocha who is still returning from International Duty with Sao Tome and Principal, having beaten Mauritius in a two-legged affair.
We also welcome back Andy George following his broken arm, which will be a big boost for everyone at the club to have Andy back involved within the squad after an impressive start to his career in a Regent Shirt!
Munyard will be looking to get the R’s firing back to form again, but the squad can certainly take heart having been unbeaten in their previous two home matches.
LAST TIME OUT
The last meeting between the two sides was back in September when the host won 3-1.
The R’s took the lead after 16 minutes through Ken Feyi but was cancelled out before the breakthrough from Ken Charles.
Ambers dominated the second half scoring twice through Zack Newton, and Ken Charles added his second 8 minutes from time.
Regent haven’t in fact beaten Cheshunt for 6 seasons, but record books are there to be changed this evening!
CURRENT FORM
Brightlingsea Regent – LWDDL
Regent have actually only managed two wins in their last 10, but draws at home to Folkestone Invicta and Carshalton Athletic make up the previous 5 matches.
Alongside victory at Horsham, there was a defeat to Margate and Potters Bar Town last Saturday
Victory tonight though, would move the R’s up a place in the table and 4 points clear of that ‘PPG’ zone!
Cheshunt - WWWWL
Craig Edwards’s Ambers were defeated on Saturday, when they hosted the Champions-elect Worthing by 2 goals to nil.
Prior to that though, victories away at East Thurrock United, Folkestone Invicta and Bowers & Pitsea, with a home result over Wingate & Finchley make up an impressive recent form which lands them 7th in the table.
The R’s will be hoping that the blip continues this evening!
DANGERMAN
Rowan Liburd - Striker
Rowan has netted on 16 occasions this season in 24 appearances. Rowan joined the Ambers from Billericay Town at the beginning of the season having played under Edwards previously. He has an experienced CV having played at Reading, Stevenage, Hereford, Leyton Orient, Wycombe, Welling and Guiseley.
Liburd has also represented St Kitts & Nevis at international level.
