Brightlingsea Regent travelled to Hertfordshire to face struggling Potters Bar Town
Regent were looking to get revenge for earlier in the season when The Scholars came to the Taydal and took the points.
The first half saw very little goalmouth action at each end with neither side threatening the goal and cancelling each other out.
Regent did create a half chance before the break when the R’s worked the the left channel well with the ball finding Aaron Condon to strike inside the box forcing a neat save.
The second half was certainly a contrast to the first half with the visitors upping the anti.
Almost immediately after the restart Regent were awarded a penalty, Aaron Condon took the ball off Billy Hunt down the right hand side, he advanced into the box and was brought down by the leg of Sean Grace.
Billy Hunt then stepped up and put the penalty away despite keeper Berkley Laurencin’s best efforts to save. 0-1
Regent from then on, were in total control. Space began to open up as Potters Bar sent men forward to attempt to level.
In the 73rd minute, substitute Billy Jones played a great through past which Billy Hunt got on too and struck forcing a great save by the host keeper Laurencin.
Minutes later Harvey Hodd glided past his man on the left before striking at goal from the tight angle, but his effort was high.
With 10 minutes to play the Scholars were reduced to 10 men when Berkley Laurencin was shown a straight red. As the ball was out of play behind the goal, a Regent supporter tried some keepy ups and the Scholars keeper jumped the fence and assaulted another Regent fan to the floor as he made a quest for the ball. James Budden took the gloves for the remainder of the match.
In injury time Regent sealed victory, Matt Cripps sent a wonderful diagonal ball towards Billy Hunt who brought the ball down with a superb touch, Hunt then hit the accelerator leaving the defender for dead and slotting into the net past the stand in keeper. 0-2
Regent move up to 11th in the table with just one defeat in nine, making the R’s the form team in the league.
Next weekend Regent host Folkestone Invicta as they look to to make in 5 straight home wins on the trot!
