A look ahead to Tuesday night's Isthmian North clash with Little Oakley
We're back on the road in league action this coming Tuesday night (25th) as we make the short trip over to Little Oakley. We visit the hosts on the back of two draws from our opening two games in the league with Little Oakley having not played a single league fixture yet. They're previous two matches have been both in the FA Cup against Kirkley & Pakefield where they came away 2-1 victors in the Extra Preliminary round and against Mulbarton Wanderers in the preliminary round where The Acorns lost 1-0.
Our Opponents
Nicknamed "The Acorns", Little Oakley begin their debut season in the Isthmian League North having gained promotion in 2025/26 finishing top of the Essex Senior League on the final day of the season. The club was previously promoted as champions of the Essex & Suffolk Border League in 2017 and in 2021, the club were promoted to the Essex Senior League based on their results in the curtailed 2019/20 and 20/21 seasons.
The previous encounter
Tournament: Essex & Suffolk Border League
Date: 23rd February 2011
Result: Brightlingsea Regent 4 - 1 Little Oakley
The last time we played Little Oakley in a competitive fixture we were still plying our trade in the Essex & Suffolk Border league all the way back in 2011. Specifically we have to go back to Wednesday 23rd February 2011 where Regent claimed a 4-1 home victory against Tuesday's opponents. Fun fact: The gaffer Ryan Salter featured in this squad that beat The Acorns in 2011 and part of the Premier Division winning squad of that season.
Going into Tuesday's match sees the R's historically on top head-to-head with 4 wins, 3 draws and a singe loss in our previous encounters. However, this game will be no walk in the park with Little Oakley having invested heavily on their squad over the summer and will prove to be tougher encounter since our Boarder league days!
