After the disappointment of our early FA Cup Extra Preliminary round exit last Saturday at the hands of Histon FC, the R's welcome Tilbury FC and their supporters to North Road as we kick our Isthmian League North campaigns off for 26/27.

Last time out
Both sides finished mid-table last season with Tilbury finishing on 58 points in 11th place with Regent falling only slightly short on 56 in 14th place. The last time Regent hosted Tilbury was on 6th December 2025 where Regent took an early lead via a 4th minute Dan Rowe goal before Tilbury equalised on 39 minutes. Jake Clowsley restored the lead in the 46th minute and it looked set to be a victorious winter Saturday for the R's. But, it wasn't to be as Tilbury stunned the home crowd with a 93rd minute penalty to steal a point.

The return fixture at Chadfields on 21st March wasn't much better, with two second half goals from Tyler Forbes and Dan Trendall secured a 2-0 victory for the visitors and sent Regent packing.

Welcoming you all back to North Road

For those who couldn't join us in pre-season, we welcome you all back for (Hopefully!) a great game of football and a Win in the bag. You may notice a few little changes across the ground, notably we have a new sponsor board above the score board in the corner of the Danny G and Dot Milgate terrace, a very big thank you to the Brightlingsea Colne View Dental Practice for sponsoring the board. A welcome addition that finishes the build off nicely! Also a massive thank you to groundsman Matt Hatch and John Griffiths for installing it during the summer.

We hosted two work parties over the summer months in which time a lot and work has gone into getting the ground ready for the new season, however, a much needed refresh has been carried out in the clubhouse and we look forward to you all seeing it and being served your favourite match day beverages of choice by new bar managers Phil Calver and Jason Cook. No introductions required as tpey are well known people at the club but please give them a big welcome and your support!

With the madness of heatwave after heatwave over the past few months the pitch is looking a bit more parched than usual, however, due to Stitch Carters unrelenting efforts over the summer to keep it watered and fed we still have a lot of green on it ready for season kick off, there are not many natural pitches that remain in such good condition in the area and a massive well done to Stitch for keeping it as healthy as possible!

Familiar Faces
Defender Mike "Big Mike" Okafor who left in the summer for the visitors returns tomorrow for Tilbury. We know what a power house he is in defence and will make sure we need to be firing on all cylinders if we are to break the Tilbury Defence down.
