Brightlingsea Regent v Folkestone Invicta - Match Preview
Brightlingsea Regent welcome Folkestone Invicta to North Road, under lights, in a rearranged fixture which should have taken place in February only for Storm Eunice to hit the ground and cause serious damage, resulting to the postponement for safety reasons.
Munyard’s men come into this fixture off the back of a fantastic victory on Saturday at Horsham, taking the points despite trailing by 2 goals in the opening 12 minutes. Goals from Valter & Carlos Rocha drew the R’s level before the break, only for Daggers loanee, Aaron Blair’s 80th minute winner to record his 9th for the season.
LAST TIME OUT:
Regent were blown away by the Kent based side back in October, in a 5-1 defeat. The side that day only features 5 remaining players to today’s squad, and it’s all change in the dugout too.
Chelmsford City youngster got the R’s goal that day, but this was only a consolation.
CURRENT FORM (ALL COMPS):
Brightlingsea Regent – LDLLW
The R’s had an upturn in form on Saturday, but previous defeats to Bowers & Pitsea, Margate & Bognor Regis Town, with a draw at Wingate & Finchley make up the Regent form.
Victory tonight though would help Regent take a huge strive towards safety, moving us up to 18th in the table.
Folkestone Invicta – WWWWW
Neil Cugley’s men have won their last 7 in all competitions, the last 5 of those have seen victories over Bognor Regis Town, East Thurrock United, Kingstonian, Barking and Bowers & Pitsea on Saturday.
The Seasiders longest winning run has seen them move up to 3rd in the table but trail leaders Worthing by 13 points, with a game in hand. Despite this, a win tonight will keep on the leaders tail.
DANGERMAN
David Smith - Striker
The very impressive Smith is the Invicta top scorer this season with 25 goals in all competitions. The last time we met, in October, Smith netted in the 5-1 rout. Let’s hope he goes home dry this evening!
