Brightlingsea Regent made it 9 points out of 9 to keep their outside chances of a play off place alive.

Brightlingsea Regent travelled to Redbridge for their latest game and sitting six points outside the play offs knowing a win was vital. Webster made three changes from the side that won on Monday with Jake Gordon,Ollie Canfer and George Clarke replacing Phil Kelly, Charlie Durling and Jordan Heath. Two of those players bagging a brace which sees the R's now just four points outside the play offs. Despite a wobble in the second half Regent ran out worthy winners to set up the game on Monday at home to AFC Sudbury. The yellows themselves in great form since the appointment of Jamie Godbold sitting third in the table.
Regent started the game well and nearly scored inside the opening minutes but Jake Gordon was denied. Regent didn't have to wait long however and their early play was rewarded after just five minutes. Good play from Ricky Griggs found Ollie Canfer who flashed a first time unstoppable drive from the right side of the area to make it 0-1. The same player then making a positive run before his cross was just cleared to safety. The home side did settle and a ball into the box was just flashed wide by the striker. A quick throw from the home team saw a strike fired just wide of the far upright moments later. It was 0-2 on 24 minutes, the ball was moved from the left and the home defence dragged out of position saw the pass find Jake Gordon who delightfully chipped the advanced keeper for a lovely finish. The home side were a little fortunate shortly after with Jake Gordon collecting a pass and heading past the defender who clearly brought him down and was the last man but despite all this the officials didn't even award a foul. The home side looked for a response and Andrew Plummer saved superbly low to his right to deny a point blank header. Regent were again frustrated by the officials when Ollie Canfer saw his first cross blocked before the second cross looked to have been handled but again despite appeals the officials waved away later claiming they were waiting for each other to give the decision. Ben Newson went close just before half time but his left footed half volley was wide of the upright. HT 0-2
Frustratingly Regent started the half poorly and rather summed up the start with a poor goal against them after 51 minutes. A long ball looked to have been dealt with but the home striker chased down and stole the ball before crossing into the box where the ball was headed back to the number 6 who half volleyed over Andrew Plummer for 2-1. Webster made his first change with George Clarke being replaced by Charlie Durling. The home side having their best spell in the game with the R's being sloppy in possession and outworked. On 66 minutes Regent got a decisive third goal and eased any pressure, Jake Gordon setting the ball back to Charlie Durling, his pass was perfectly into the third man run from Ben Newson who chipped the advancing keeper from 20 yards to make it 1-3. A really poor foul from the home number 7 who stamped down the Achilles of Josh Gould after the ball had been played saw the Referee award a yellow card. Warren Joseph replaced Jake Holman for Regent and the game had fully swung back in the favour of Regent and shortly after Webster made his final change with Jordan Heath replacing Ben Newson. Good play between Josh Gould and Ollie Canfer with Ollie playing a nice ball round the corner for Jake Gordon who nonchalantly bent into the bottom corner from the edge of the area for 1-4 on 85 minutes. Charlie Durling did well out wide crossing to Jordan Heath who took an eternity to shoot before the keeper blocked but Ollie Canfer was first to react and stabbed home for 1-5 on 88 minutes. Jordan Heath nearly added a sixth with a well timed run but his shot was well saved by the keeper. FT 1-5
Another good away win for Regent who after the defeat at Harlow have responded with three straight wins in a week which now moves them just four points outside the play offs with just four games remaining and three of these at home.
