Brightlingsea Regent are on the road once again, this time in the Essex Senior Cup Third Round, as the R’s travel to East London, taking on Redbridge FC.
Off the back of a disheartening defeat away at Walthamstow FC on Saturday, Ryan Salter’s R’s have the perfect opportunity to return to winning ways in the Cup and develop some strong form ahead of Buckhurst Hill’s visit to North Road on Saturday.
During the 2025/2026 campaign, Brightlingsea Regent were eliminated in the third round of the Essex Senior Cup, suffering a three-two defeat at the hands of Brentwood Town FC, after Charlie Edwards bagged a last gasp winner for the opposition.
Hoping to go one step further and reach the fourth round, the R’s face a tough battle against a high-flying Redbridge FC, with the matchday information being as follows:
Opposition: Redbridge FC
Location: Techsoc.Com Stadium, Station Rd, Ilford IG6 1NB
Kickoff and date: Monday 12th October 2026, 7:45PM
Ticket Prices: £10 adults, £6 concessions, U16’s free
A look at the opposition:
Redbridge FC (also known as “The Motormen) were founded in 1959 as Ford United, thanks to East London’s car manufacturing industry, seeing a merger between Ford Sports and Brigg Sports, before ultimately being renamed to the current “Redbridge FC” in 2004.
Their history thus far has seen them reach the Conference South for a single season in what was their highest league position in their history, before suffering back-to-back relegations in the following campaigns. Since then, The Motormen have spent a majority of their time in the Eighth and ninth tier, where they currently remain today.
On top of that, Redbridge FC enjoyed success in this competition during the 2023/24 campaign, achieving a historic milestone for the club, beating a Colchester United side that featured plenty of first teamers in the cup final to win the cup for the first time in the club’s history.
Currently sitting in fifth place in the Isthmian League North under the management of Chris Taylor, they suffered their first home defeat of the season on Saturday against Cambridge City, putting an end to a five-game unbeaten home run. Their standout man so far has been forward Louie Remi, who has bagged seven goals already this season.
Last time we met:
It's a bit of Deja vu for Brightlingsea Regent supporters, as we clash with Redbridge for the second occasion this season, facing them already on the 5th of September.
In our second home game of the season, it was the visitors who claimed the three points. Redbridge top scorer Louie Remi broke the deadlock in the thirteenth minute from an unmarked position at the far post, before Pedro Carvahlo doubled the advantage just before the break from a half-volley from the edge of the penalty area.
Regent managed to pull one back through Luca Terminiello; however, it was too little too late for the Rs, as his close-range tap in simply prevented an opposition clean sheet. The whole squad will be hoping to go one step further and get through to the next round on Monday night.
