Brightlingsea had to come from behind to beat Thurlow Premier opposition in Brantham Athletic
The host took the lead after just 10 minutes when the R’s were caught in midfield allowing the ball to be played in behind down the right hand side. Elliott Johnson crossed low for former Regent midfielder Jack Newman to knock home. 1-0
The R’s hit back immediately when Joe Maybanks found Darren Mills in the box with his back to goal, a Fantastic turn and shot into the bottom corner restored parity. 1-1
Regent snatched the lead after half hour, when Harvey Hodd played a quick short corner, laying the ball to Joe Maybanks who advanced to the edge of the area and floated his finish into the top corner. 2-1
The second half saw very little in the way of chances as both teams made personnel changes throughout.
The only notable chance fell to both the Regent centre halfs. Firstly, Matt Cripps stabbed his shot across goal from a Jake Clowsley cross and Josh Gould was unable to direct the ricochet ever side of the Brantham Goalkeeper in the same move.
FT 1-2
Both teams can pick up plenty of positives from the game. Next up for Regent is Needham Market on Friday evening at the Taydal Stadium
