Work has already begun on the North Road pitch and we're looking to for assistance in helping with the work over the summer.
Club Treasurer Phil Calver said;
"Pitch work has started today. [Monday 11th] 7.30am start and finished at 14.45. Today we have scarified the pitch, and tomorrow the task of drilling the seed will begin."
"Massive thanks to Stitch, who was also there all day and helped Ady (Premier Sports Turf) complete the task."
The R's are lucky and grateful to have regular dedication from a team of volunteers who give time to maintain the pitch and perform maintenance of the facilities.
However, many hands make light work so we're on the look out for more volunteers to help oversee the watering, mowing of the pitch and helping with other general works.
The North Road pitch handled an incredible amount of games in the 2025/2026 season, not only for the men's regular and cup fixtures but also matches for the Ladies' team and the Under 18's team. Despite the large number of games last season The R's only experienced one home postponement (frozen pitch) and the pitch looked more like a pre-season one at the Regent Awards Night last Friday.
If you'd like to lend a hand and offer some time to your local football club, please reach out to Stitch Carter on 07837057240.
If your contribution can be a financial contribution, we're also raising funds for new equipment to help make our work easier. Follow this link to donate Pitch maintenance fundraising!
