Sad news was announced this morning that Rita Loates had lost her short battle with cancer and passed away yesterday aged 75.

Brightlingsea Regent learned the sad news this morning that club legend Rita Loates passed away yesterday aged 75. Rita was a volunteer at Brightlingsea for over a decade where she carried out many roles including the raffles but was best known for being our tea lady a role that she performed for the club at all events and all games at the club. Rita was an active member in the Brightlingsea community and was involved with several organisations including the Girls Brigade, Brightlingsea Marching Brass, carnival committee, pantomime group and the Church lads.
A short battle with cancer in the past six weeks has seen Rita in and out of hospital and sadly the news arrived yesterday that she had lost her fight. Rita leaves behind her a son a daughter and grandchildren. The Regent players will wear black armbands on Sunday and hold a minutes applause before the game versus Heybridge Swifts to celebrate the life of Rita.
RIP Rita Loates
