Charlie Turner puts pen to paper with Brightlingsea Regent.

Brightlingsea Regent are pleased to announce that Goalkeeper and Vice Captain, Charlie Turner has agreed to stay, signing a two-year-deal.

Turner signed for the R’s in the summer of 2019 by then manager Tom Rothery, and has remained an ever present between the sticks.

Charlie has made 47 appearances for the club over two Covid affected seasons, which has brought the attention of on-looking clubs with his brilliant performances.

Manager Tom Austin, had this to say about his man, “I’m really pleased that Charlie has committed to the club for the next two seasons.”

“Not only is he one of our vice captains but he is a big character in our changing room”

“His Goalkeeping abilities are second to none and as we all know a reliable keeper is very hard to come by!”

“He has a great relationship with our goalkeeping coach John Albon who has helped to improve him over the past two years”

“Charlie’s commitment to us is a sign that the players are buying into what we are doing and we can’t wait for next season to start already!”

Goalkeeping Coach, John Albon, who works closely with Charlie also added, “It’s excellent news that the club have got this deal done – a great show of intent from everyone involved.”

“Charlie has been superb since he’s been at the club; who can forget the flying save at Cray, the celebration at Lewes, the penalty heroics at Folkestone and many other great moments.”

“Whilst he enjoys being a character around the place, once it comes to training or games, he’s incredibly dedicated to his football and his goalkeeping”

We’re glad to keep you around Charlie, we look forward to next season already!
