As the curtain falls on another campaign, and another pre-season swiftly approaches, supporters can reflect back on the previous campaign, one that saw the Regent finish in 14th place of the Isthmian League North division, winning sixteen, drawing eight, and losing eighteen.
Despite the highs and lows, here is a look at five high-points from the 25/26, and the games that will resonate with the Regent faithful for many years.
Brightlingsea Regent 4-0 Downham Town – 13th September 2025
Despite a rocky start, losing the opening three Isthmian League North fixtures, Brightlingsea Regent showed resilience and gradually found their rhythm as the season progressed, picking up the first three points over the eventually relegated Downham Town in an emphatic four-nil victory.
A Shane Temple double broke the deadlock in the 15th and 51st minute, before leaving it late in the last fifteen minutes to double the advantage through Jake Clowsley and George Doyle to secure a complete performance at North Road.
Brightlingsea Regent 3-0 Heybridge Swifts – 11th November 2025
Moving forward a couple of months, Brightlingsea Regent secured a comfortable second victory on the bounce over fellow Essex-based Isthmian League North side Heybridge Swifts under the floodlights in November. The eventually relegated Heybridge Swifts went a goal behind in the 27th minute, when Dan Rowe bagged his fourth goal of the season.
Only seven minutes later, the Regent scored a second, with full-back Fin Adams slamming home a well-placed free-kick past the Swifts goalkeeper, but were forced to wait until the second-half for a third, bagged by captain Charlie Durling at the back post from a well-placed cross after a maintained spell of heavy pressure.
Brightlingsea Regent 4-1 Lowestoft Town – 22nd November 2025
Just eleven days later, North Road saw yet another remarkable performance in the league, this time coming against freshly relegated Lowestoft Town. Jake Clowsley continued his immense form in front of goal, opening the scoring in the 13th minute, swiftly followed by Ola Bello’s goal to double the advantage.
Regent went into the break with just the two, despite a sustained spell of consistent pressure, however, full-back Fin Adams didn’t have to wait long to increase the deficit, coming in the 54th minute. Finally, central defender Mike Okafor (AKA Big Mike) opened his tally for the 25/26 campaign, completing an enjoyable afternoon for Regent supporters.
Brightlingsea Regent 3-2 Maldon & Tiptree – 2nd December 2025
Brightlingsea Regent stunned the league, overcoming the eventual League champions and heavy-spenders Maldon & Tiptree on a wintery Tuesday Evening at North Road. Despite the high-caliber standard of players of the opposition, Regent headed three-goals ahead, however, were forced to settle for just the plus one on goal difference.
Once again, Dan Rowe opened the scoring early in the first half, followed by Matt Tricker heading home from a pinpoint George Doyle free-kick, simultaneously opening his regent goal tally. Whilst Regent fans were likely remaining occupied elsewhere during the interval, the Jammers were awarded a penalty, but former Premier League player Freddie Sears saw his penalty saved comfortably by Luke Avenell.
More nerves followed, when Maldon & Tiptree saw their headed goal ruled out, however, thankfully, Harry McDonald swiftly increased the deficit to three.
Brightlingsea Regent 4-0 Takeley – 18th April 2026
Closing out the season at North Road, Brightlingsea rounded off the campaign on a positive note, hammering Takeley four-nil. It was Dan Rowe that broke the deadlock in just the 2nd minute, bagging one of the easiest goals of his career, nudging the ball home after a header slammed the post.
Following an uninspiring rest of the ninety-minutes, Regent left it until stoppage time to add three more goals onto the scoreline, the first coming from Jake Clowsley after the Takeley goalkeeper flapped at a cross, then just one minute later from Ola Bello, who was left unmarked at the back post to tap home. Concluding last season’s action at North Road, Timi Davies skillfully turned past his man-marker and slammed home to make it four in total!
