The under 18s started off the season with a disappointing 3-0 defeat at Cornard

Cornard started very brightly and played some very good football early on, however Brightlingsea soon started to create chances.
Terrence Kangandu and Ross Brazitis both went close, but the Cornard keeper made two very good saves. The deadlock was broken when Pengally found space and drilled home from 25 years.

The second half really was one way traffic with Brightlingsea having most of the possession without carving out many clear cut chances.
The best chances fell to Jake Smith who headed against the post and managed to deflect the rebound over the bar and Harry Banner who had a left footed effort cleared off the line with the score at 1-0.

Cornard scored their second and third goals in the last five minutes with Brightlingsea committing players forward chasing the game.

Pengally scored again when he latched on to a through ball and made the most of the confusion in the defence to lift his shot over the keeper. The third was a sweetly struck free-kick by Morgan from 30 yards which gave Charlie no chance.

The lads will be keen to put this result behind them this week when they entertain FC Clacton at home.

A number of the players have been involved with the 1st team already this season, which is great for their development. If they continue to play like they played on Thursday night, the results will come
