Brightlingsea Regent Transfer Update

Brightlingsea Regent Transfer Update

William Mallard-Smith22 Jun - 14:40

Here is a summary of all the news from over the course of the weekend.

Across the course of the weekend, there were plenty of transfers completed at Brightlingsea Regent. From outgoings to incomings, here is a breakdown of the business completed over the last few days.

Retained

Matt Tricker

Tricker joins a long list of last season’s stars to agree a new deal for the 2026/2027 campaign, being announced on Sunday that he will link back up with Ryan Salter, off the back of a successful season with the Regent, that saw the versatile defensive midfielder feature on thirty-four separate occasions, the first of those coming against Grays Athletic on the 7th of October 2025.

Moreover, Tricker bagged twice, the first coming during the emphatic win over eventual champions Maldon & Tiptree, and the second opening the scoring against Waltham Abbey. We look forward to seeing him return at North Road for the season ahead.

Outgoings

Mike Okafor

One of Regent’s longest serving players unfortunately departed the club on Saturday, joining fellow Essex-based Isthmian League North side Tilbury FC for the upcoming season.

Mike Okafor (or “Big Mike” as known to many) featured in thirty-six league games last season, becoming one of the most consistent and regular performers in the squad, scoring five. First joining during the 23/24 season, Okafor battled with injury woes, however, swiftly became one of the first names on the team sheet week-in-week-out. A big part of play across both ends of the pitch, we wish Mike the best for his future football ventures.

Cameron Jessup

Another consistent presence within the Brightlingsea Regent backline will also be departing, this time Cameron Jessup, who has left the club, as he starts a new life in Australia.

Jessup followed the manager, making the switch from FC Clacton to Brightlingsea Regent, alongside a small spell with Needham Market, and went on to make nineteen appearances in the last campaign. Without question, the highlight from Jessup’s second tenure would undeniably be his 97th minute equaliser against fellow Essex side Concord Rangers back in March 2026.
