Brightlingsea Regent look to ‘bounce back’ against Waltham Abbey.

Brightlingsea Regent had ended 2025 on a brilliant note, going on a 10 game unbeaten streak, and managing to keep promotion hopes alive.

The start to 2026 however, has not been what any R’s fan had hoped for, with 2 losses in 2 tough games against Bowers & Pitsea, and Felixstowe and Walton United, leaving them 9 points adrift from the playoff positions, sitting in 13th place.

Club Secretary Martin Bright believes that ‘Regent will be looking to bounce back’ following the recent results and the disappointing end to games that Brightlingsea tend to have.

Ryan Salter's side will definitely be looking at this fixture as a chance to get the season quickly back on track, having beaten Waltham Abbey 2-0 in the reverse fixture earlier on this season, with Charlie Durling and Shane Temple grabbing the goals.

Salter will however recognise it as another tough test for the squad, playing their third game against a top 5 team in a row, and hoping to take away anything positive from the game.

Waltham Abbey did lose their last game 3-2 however, conceding a hat-trick to Mildenhall Town striker Ryan Ashley Sharman, so they too will be looking to bounce back to what they will consider a disappointing result.

The game will be played at Waltham Abbey's home ground, Capershotts, so it's all set up to be a great viewing, as every Brightlingsea Regent game seems to be at the moment!

So make the journey to support your Regent, and cheer on the R's!
