Well where do I start ?
Firstly I would like to thank Mark and Dave for there friendship and loyalty over the past decade, I first met both of them over ten years ago and played along side Dave under Mark, Shortly after I joined White Ensign as first team manager, both Mark and Dave soon followed, Mark coming as Assistant and Dave joining as a player. We spent a fair few years there and enjoyed some great success and some moments to cherish. Mark has been with me every step of the way now for 7/8 years in Managment and I can’t thank him enough for everything he has done for me, Although this chapter has come to an end I know, I have two friends for a life!
I understand there will be assumptions on how this situation may look however how things look are not how they seem.
Me and Dave spoke at length about next season and both come to the conclusion that for now we wouldn’t work together next season. This has now lead to me searching for new staff members. In my time away I have focused very much on how I can improve and always wanted to work with a larger Managment team next season to bring new ideas and a freshness to the club. I am pleased that we have a few new coaches on board and will be introduced to the club in due time.
Leaving Regent was a very tough decision a couple months back but it was something I felt I had to do. In this time away I’ve had deep thoughts of reflection, I feel I’ve learned more in the past 7/8 weeks than what I have in the previous years! Although I am back earlier than expected, I am very much ready for the challenge ahead.
The club have shown great persistence and a level of loyalty to me that I am extremely greatfull for! Although I accept in my first season here we achieved an incredible achievement, I also accept this season has not been good and we have failed. The fact the club have still perused me gives me a great feeling
I met the club two weeks ago to discuss the possibility of me returning at the end of the season. The meeting was very long and in depth and together we worked out a plan to try to get Regent back to step 3 football. The plan is both short and long term and involves some big changes on and off the field.
Brightlingsea Regent is a unique and special club to me! And I’m delighted to be back and very excited for the future! The fans are with out doubt the best around and will play a huge part of our coming journey! I’m sure over the next weeks/months there will be plenty of reasons to feel optimistic about the clubs future.
Right now of course, we have 4 games to play and we only have 13 available first team players. However, the squad is united and understand the situation! You will be very pleased to know that members of the current first team have already committed their future to the club for next season and we hope to have more positive outcomes soon. The aim now is to gain as much momentum and positivity going into next season.
Thank you all for your support
