Brightlingsea Regent were saddened to hear of the passing of Regent fan, Bob Groome, this week.

R's Chairman, Terry Doherty remembers Bob;

"I spoke to Bob recently at a home game, he loved to position himself right behind the goal at the Castle End. He was always happy to be here and loved being where the Ultras sung their songs.

Bob turned 90 last year and was probably one of our oldest supporters.

He has a long history with the club and as he was a joiner at James & Stone shipyard he helped a lot with various building jobs around the ground including the construction of the members bar with Alan Hornsby.

He was a lovely, gentle man and he will be greatly missed by all. We are hoping to hold a minutes silence in memory of him at our next home game versus Lowestoft Town next Tuesday."

Bob will be greatly missed on the North Road terraces, the love and condolences of all at Brightlingsea Regent are with his family and everyone who knew him.

RIP Bob.
