Brightlingsea Regent were delighted to confirm that Amelia Sagnella, one of our many ladies' team players that are dedicated to the local community and women’s game in Essex, picked up the “Coach of the year – Female Pathway” award at the Essex FA awards evening, celebrating grassroots football in Essex.

Amelia has made a remarkable impact within the Essex grassroots system, coaching an Under 9’s girls' team, whilst simultaneously being a referee, player, and since the beginning of last season, a member of the Essex FA youth forum.

Starting at only fifteen years old, she has successfully created a positive and inclusive environment, in which young players are able to build confidence, develop skills and most importantly, thoroughly enjoy their football.

Moreover, it is her commitment to inclusion, alongside her work supporting the Wildcats sessions and promoting opportunities for girls within the modern game, that makes her an inspirational figure to young players in North Essex.
