Brightlingsea Regent pegged back at Egham Town to force a replay.

Brightlingsea Regent traveled to Egham in the Emirates FA Cup 2nd Round Qualifier.

The host got off to a flying start and after just 10 seconds into the match the had their first shot with James Bradbrook making a save from an Ashley Lodge effort.

The R’s however took the lead against the run of play. After seven minutes, Harvey Hodd was set free down the right hand side to centre for Matt Baxter to run in a slot home at the back post! 0-1

The host should have been level not long after when a scrambled Clearance fell to Tayshan Hayden-Smith but his effort was cleared off the line by Milo Grimes.

After 16 minutes Regent doubled their lead with a collectors item from Jake Gould. Jake started the move down the left, playing to Billy Hunt, with Jake continuing his run to the edge of the box, he got the ball back and struck home via the post! 0-2

Not long later the hosts reduced the deficit, when a ball into Kezie Ibe on the edge of the box with his back to goal, Ibe managed to turn and get his shot away past James Bradbrook. 1-2

The host should have been level on the stroke of half time when a good delivery was headed over by Ibe. HT 1-2

Regent made a defensive change at the break with Alex Taylor coming on for Milo Grimes.

Not long into the half the R’s restored their two goal lead. A freekick on the left hand side was delivered into the box and Josh Gould was on hand to sweep home past the oncoming goalkeeper! 1-3

After an hour played the Sarnies were handed a lifeline when they were awarded a penalty. Kezie Ibe got goal side of Josh Gould and he was bundled over in the box. Ibe himself stepped up and slotted home. 2-3

Regent stepped it up a gear again as they looked for a forth, A Jake Turner freekick was well saved by Xavier Comas on the edge of the box and Billy Hunt went close by hitting the outside of the post.

With 5 minutes to play the hosts were reduced to 10 men. Gregory Hayden produced a horror leg breaking tackle on substitute Harrison Banner as he run through on goal which saw him leave the field on a stretcher!

The Referee added 6 minutes additional time.

Late on Egham won themselves a corner and from the kick found themselves level! The Rhys Rabess Corner was aimed at the front post and Enock Sagonile glided his header home! FT 3-3

A reply will decide the cup tie on Tuesday Night at the Taydal, where both both sides will know their potential opponents in Monday afternoons draw.
