Brightlingsea Regent welcomed Kingstonian to the Taydal where the visitors had been very active in the week to add six new players to their squad.
Both sides started very bright making it a compelling contest with action at both ends in the first half.
R’s had the first real chance was with a long Josh Gould throw which forced a goalmouth scramble, forcing a series of saves and blocks, one from Matt Cripps and another from Michael Brothers, eventually this come to nothing as the ref blew for a foul.
With 15 minutes on the clock Michael Brothers called the K's Goalkeeper Rob Tolfrey into action, Jake Gould floated a lovely cross to the back post where Brothers volleyed goalwards with power on for Tolfrey to make a good save.
In the 19th minute the K’s were awarded a penalty when a cross hit the hand of Matt Cripps before finding Dean Inman, Louie Theophanous stepped up and struck it to James Bradbrook's right only to be denied by a fantastic save!
The half came to an end with Regent having the better of the chances despite Kingstonian's missed penalty.
The second got underway and Regent really showed the class as spaces where opening up and the K's diverted to 3 strikers.
Early into the half Michael Brothers got through down the left striking on target only to be denied from a fine save.
Regent took the lead on the 54th minute when a recycled ball from Harvey Hodd after a well defended corner, was put back into the danger zone picking out Josh Gould on the back post where his downward header beat Rob Tolfrey in the K's goal. 1-0
After an hour played, Jake Gould got an rare chance on goal with a looping effort from the left back went agonisingly over the bar from distance.
Kingstonian could have levelled with 15 minutes to play, when a ferocious strike towards goal from Dean Inman, who advanced into an attacking position, was guided wide by the head of Matt Cripps, with the shot looking destined for the net.
Inman had another chance moments later but his 18 yard effort was too high to trouble James Bradbrook in the Regent net.
With 5 minutes to play Regent won it. Great vision from Jake Turner picked out the run of Michael Brothers, he allowed the ball to bounce in front of him just inside the area and then let go a tremendous volley into the net beat Rob Tolfrey with sheer power! 2-0
The full-time whistle went with the R's securing a fantastic 3 points moving up one place to 11th, next up comes the visit of Essex neighbours Harlow Town with the R's looking to keep up their impressive home form.
