Angels Fight Back For A Point!
Brightlingsea Regent let a two goal lead slip at Tonbridge Angels.
Two sides with different fortune during December and it was Regent with the better record that started off the match looking sharper.
Within a few minutes of the start Morisi Gelashvili found room down the left to cross and it took some last ditch defending to deny Harry Morgan an early opener.
Tonbridge’s No. 11 Joe Turner shot tamely as he found room to test James Bradbrook.
Regent were putting together some good football with their quick passing and movement. Harvey Hodd and Jake Gould combined to cause problems down the left flank for the Angels right back.
Billy Hunt had a shot saved after an effort from the right hand edge of the box.
It took an outstanding, full-stretch save from the Tonbridge no. 1 Jonny Henley to deny Aaron Condon’s volley from 30 yards on the 20 minute mark.
Regent continued to push the home team and Aaron Condon once again went close when finding the keeper off his line, his long range effort just going wide of the left hand upright.
Regent opened the scoring on 25 minutes,
a well-timed pass through the middle from Aaron Condon finding Harvey Hodd motoring clear of the defence and rounding the keeper to place home into an empty net. 1-0
D’Sean Theobald came close for Tonbridge but Bradbrook responded with a sound block. HT 1-0
Within minutes of the restart Regent were 2-0 up, Billy Hunt drifting past two defenders to place the ball with the outside of his left foot into the net. 0-2
Neither side looked like scoring as the half went on until the introduction of Tonbridge subs Alex Read and Adem Ramadan.
As Regent dropped back, Tonbridge applied pressure and they got their reward as Tom Parkinson scored in the 76th minute from a corner. 2-1
The crowd got behind the home team for the first time and it was all hands to the pump as Tonbridge found confidence in the goal and continued to push for the equaliser. It was Alex Read who finally levelled the scores on 84 minutes, a long ball finding Read through on goal, finishing from the edge of the area.
Tonbridge were denied a winner by a fantastic double save from James Bradbrook in the dying seconds. FT 2-2
