Margate made up for the time lost after a delayed kick-off by comprehensively outgunning Brightlingsea, with all three goals arriving in the first half.
An accident by the A12 held up proceedings which eventually kicked off at 3:35pm
Margate started with the impetus and were soon in front after 14 minutes, a deep corner was headed back into the danger zone by Tom Wynter and a scramble was finished off by Joe Taylor
On the Half Hour mark the hosts were awarded a penalty, when a through ball saw Chris Barnard run on, only to be taken down by the sliding Jake Gould. Frannie Colin stepped up and converted
Late on in the first half the visitors made it 3, Regent conceded a freekick on the edge of the box for hand ball and with the help of a wicked deflection Frannie Collin added his second.
The second half saw the visitors sit deep and Regent were unable to break them down, despite a couple of half chances, one from Billy Hunt on the angle and Amar Lewis striking over, the visitors deserved their victory.
