Brightlingsea Regent travelled to Burgess Hill for their latest league game against the bottom side in the division.
Regent sitting eleven points ahead of Burgess before the game started came into it having secured a good draw against Dulwich Hamlet.
The team was unchanged and the home side started slightly better putting Regent under some early pressure looking to find their giant forward Sanusi and had an early handball shout waved away.
It was the R’s who took the lead however, good play from Jake Gould found Josh Gould who clipped a ball into Aaron Condon, his superb touch and shot whistled into the top corner making it 0-1 after 8 minutes.
The game continued to ebb and flow and Billy Hunt produced a good save from the home keeper Shaw.
The home side continued to pepper the Regent box with crosses but the R’s stood firm and Bradbrook in the Regent goal was untroubled although did come well for two well delivered balls.
Two free-kicks from 25 yards failed to trouble the Regent goal and Billy Hunt then had one cleared off the line as once again Josh Gould found Aaron Condon. HT 0-1
The Second half continued in a similar fashion but it wasn’t until substitute Forfana came on that Bradbrook was called into action and he made a good save low to his left to deny the substitute when through on goal.
Just a minute later it seemed a defining moment when good pressure from Jake Turner saw him win the ball back before firing a shot into the far rigging from 25 yards to make it 0-2 on 71 minutes.
The home team committed even more men forward and got a goal back on 77 minutes stabbing home from close range after Regent failed to clear another cross.
Regent held on to collect an important three points and move up to 15th in the table.
