Manager Tom Rothery was forced into changes with Captain Matt Cripps suspended, James Love slotted in at the back with Josh Gould. Jake Gould returned to the line up meaning TJ Amass went to Midfield.
Regeny started on the front foot and deserved the lead after just two minutes, when Aaron Condon beat his man and placed a low cross for the unmarked Louie Newland but his effort was well saved by the Goalkeepers legs.
The R’s did however take the lead after 12 minutes, a Jake Turner Freekick on the edge of the box, met the head of Billy Hunt who got enough of a contact, for the ball to head into the bottom corner of the net. 1-0
Merstham began to get back into the game and deservedly equalised in the 24th minute, with good work down the right from Alex Addai, who’s cross found the unmarked Charlie Penny to slot Home. 1-1
The second half was a fairly equal affair until Merstham made the break through with 10 minutes to play, Alex Addai again made good progress down the right, taking on the tiring Regent defence, advancing into the box and smashing home past James Bradbrook. 1-2
The R’s almost replied when the fresh legs of Rob Harvey, received the ball outside the box, moving onto his right foot he shot at goal but the Merstham keeper tipped over!
The contest was settled in the last minute with substitute Dan Bennett finding space in the Regent box after a counter attack to stroke home. FT 1-3
A disappointing day for Regent, but credit to Merstham, a very good footballing display.
