With match starting with positive work at both ends of the pitch, it was Invicta took the lead after 28 minutes, a soft freekick on Yusuff was conceded on the edge of the Regent box from a Matt Cripps foul. Samuel Hasler stepped up and dispatched with power into the bottom corner past debutant Keeper Harry Palmer. HT 0-1
The R’s started the second half bright, and should have equalised early into the half, Sam Ashford was slipped in but was unable to beat the oncoming Goalkeeper Tim Roberts who saved well.
A further opportunity did arise when the ref awarded Regent a penalty, Ashford again isolated his defender who swiped him down on the edge of the box. Condon stepped up but his effort was well saved by Roberts.
The resulting corner finally saw the R’s level, a pin point, flighted Jake Turner corner saw Matt Cripps shrug his marker to head home. 1-1
With the match heading towards a draw, the referee played his part in denying the host a point when he awarded a penalty. Adam Yusuff travelled towards the box allegedly being brought down by Cripps, he dusted himself off and put away the kick. FT 1-2
A massively disappointing end to the match as Regent were denied a point, thanks to a contentious penalty decision. The R’s certainly could have had more out of the game, nonetheless, we get up and dust ourselves off ready for Tuesday’s tussle with Burgess Hill.
