Bowers & Pitsea Leave North Road With A Point!

Bowers & Pitsea travelled to North Road to face Brightlingsea Regent on Tuesday evening, Bowers having been promoted as Champions from the Essex Senior League last term were continuing on there good form and were currently taking up one of the play-off positions in the league table.

Bowers started the game well and too their credit took the lead after 13 minutes, when a deep cross come into the box from the Regent right hand side was only half cleared by a Regent head to the edge of the box, Lewis Manor took control of the ball, turned inside his marker and hit a rocket of a shot into the side of the net. 0-1

Regent responded, in the 23rd minute could have been level, when a free-kick was crossed in by Aaron Condon, Matt Cripps rose the highest to head towards goal forcing a good save from Martyn Guest in goal for Bowers & Pitsea, the rebound came out to Jake Turner who was lurking on the penalty spot and he hit a cruel volley striking the crossbar.

Two minutes later the R's were level, Phil Kelly got the ball down around 30 yards from goal, he run directly at two Bowers defenders who were unable to stop him, he proceeded to the edge of the penalty area and hit his shot, which deflected off a third defender and past the oncoming goalkeeper Guest. 1-1

The host were close to going in front on the 37th minute, Jake Gould came forward down the left hand side, and played a pass to Aaron Condon who had time and space to centre a perfect cross into the box, which was met by the head of Tom Richardson, but the goalkeeper Guest was equal to it and handled well.

Moments before half-time, Bowers & Pitsea had an opportunity to regain the lead, Brad Warner came forward and hit a great effort on the edge of the area which Ollie Bowles got a full hand on to parry out, Tom Hine then reacted the quickest to hit another effort this time Ollie Bowles tipped over. HT1-1

The second half didn't see too many chances created at either end as the two sides played out the draw.

The two most notable chances were firstly, on the 70th minute an Effort from Connor Witherspoon towards the edge of the box looked as if it had the Bowers Keeper strounded but the shot hit Jake Turner and the sting came out of the effort and Bowers were able to clear

Late on Matt Cripps had a volley towards goal, but his effort was headed over by a Bowers defended for a corner. FT 1-1
