Regent finish the bank holiday weekend taking three points in the long trip to Wroxham

Brightlingsea Regent headed to Norfolk for Mondays sunny bank holiday fixture, and managed to take home the points.

Brightlingsea never had it all their own way and the first 20 minutes Wroxham looked the better side, creating the better chances. The first of which was from Wroxham's Jack Guyton who tested the R's keeper Ollie Bowles inside 10 minutes but Ollie saved well. Then a shot from Cassimiro Datocampol on 17 minutes took a wicked deflection, nearly catching Bowles out but he got down well to save.

Regent started to grow into the game and began to pass the ball much better, and on the 23rd minute the R's took the lead. A throw in on the left side was collected by Ricky Griggs who unleashed a rifled 25 yard strike straight past the despairing dive of Elliott Pride in goal for Wroxham. 0-1

Just 5 minutes later Regent doubled their lead. A simple looking gather by Wroxham's Pride from a cross on the left turned into a huge mistake, with pride dropping the ball and allowing Phil Kelly to nip in and bundle the ball over the line, to the despair of the Wroxham players and supporters. 0-2

Regent saw out the rest of the half, only a half chance from Wroxham's Kyle Baker from a header in the 41st minute, which was easily gathered by Bowles was all to report.

HT 0-2

Regent came under attack in the second half as Wroxham made changes to their offensive side, but Regent defended very well throughout the game.

In the 70th minute, Regent could have added a third when a cross from Condon met the head of Tom Richardson but Pride reacted well and pushed round his post, making up for his earlier mistake.

Just a few minutes later, Richardson had another chance when Kelly got free down the left and delivered to superb cross towards Richardson who took the ball down from off his chest and smashed his volley towards goal only to be denied from the on rushing Pride to block the effort.

In the 80th minute Regent won a penalty, Condon broke into the box when he got free down the right, and was brought down by Wroxham's Tom Rampling with the Referees assistant signalling for the penalty to be awarded. Jake Turner stepped up, but opted for power, and struck the effort clean over the bar.

The game finished with the Regent heading back to Essex with the points and going into Saturdays FA Cup clash with Billericay Town on a high.
