Two second half goals earn the R's a point.

Brightlingsea Regent welcomed Bury Town to North Road for their first home game of the 2015-16. Bury Town were relegated from the Premier Division last season and started life in the North Division with a 5-1 win at home to Aveley on Saturday whilst Regent were recording a 2-1 away win at Waltham Abbey.
Webster was again without the same players from injury and also was without Josh Mayhew who was unavailable due to work. He made only one enforced change with Jake Gordon replacing Josh in the starting line up.
Regent started the game reasonably well as both teams settled quickly. A close first half with both sides struggling to create too many clear opportunities. Bury looking most dangerous with a devilish long throw and this was what gave them an 18th minute lead. The throw from the left was flicked in the box and despite getting a hand on it, Andrew Plummer was only able to watch it agonisingly drop from his palm and squirm into the goal behind him for 0-1. The away side boosted from the hint of fortune moved the ball well to Hughes but his shot from the edge of the area was straight at Plummer in the Regent goal. Regent themselves created their best chance of the half after good play down the right hand side and the cross was drilled along the six yard box by Luke Milbourne but the outstretched leg of Luke Read was inches away from contact and an equaliser. Again Regent largely played their part in the second goal for the away side giving the ball away in midfield before the ball in behind the back line saw Plummer race out from his goal, Hughes rounded him with ease before squaring in the box to Barber who passed in off the post despite the efforts of Cripps to make it 0-2 on 33 minutes. Once again Regent showed character and didn't react negatively but their play was too slow and the Bury defence looked in control with the best efforts being from distance for the home side. HT 0-2
A much better half for Regent with more intensity about their play and they only had to wait 8 minutes to pull a goal back. A driving run from George Clarke who was brought down 25 yards out from goal, Jake Turner seeing his thumping effort rebound off the bar but Luke Milbourne from the edge of the area was first to the rebound and controlled his shot which beat the keeper to make it 1-2 on 53 minutes. Jake Gordon shortly after nearly added a second when his turn and shot was just over the far corner. Just as it looked Regent were finding a foothold in the game they nearly threw it away when again losing possession cheaply, this time however Barber was unable to find the target after breaking through. On 59 minutes they were made to pay, good combination play down the right with Ricky Griggs finding Jake Gordon, his run taking him in behind the away defence and he was clipped from behind in the box with the Referee awarding a penalty. Jake Turner stepped up to beat the keeper and make it 2-2. Webster made his first change on 66 minutes with Brendon Heath replacing Luke Milbourne. On 70 minutes Regent were denied by a smart save when Jake Gordon found Luke Read who's run had taken him in on goal but the advancing keeper saved well. Bury's main threat throughout the night was a long throw and Regent largely defended these well in the second half with the away side not creating too much off note after the chance for Barber. Webster made his final change on 86 minutes with Kieron Baker replacing Lamell Howell as both sides saw out the remaining stages to see both teams take a point. FT 2-2
The result sees both teams on 4 points after the opening two games. The two goals conceded by Regent were poor whilst the second half comeback to earn a point is pleasing and showed again the resilience in the squad.
