Despite a comeback Regent win with a Phil Kelly hatters.

Brightlingsea Regent travelled to Burnham Ramblers for their latest league game to play Burnham for the fourth time this season.
Regent started the game well and took the lead after just 2 minutes in a first half that they dominated. A cheap foul from the number 9 seeing a free kick awarded and a good ball from TJ Amass was headed home by the unmarked Phil Kelly for 0-1. The next set piece for Regent again saw the home team allow a free header which this time was just over the bar. The home side were giving a lot of free kicks away with persistent fouling with the Referee seemingly reluctant to issue any deterrent. The away side on a rare attack forward had a strike at goal that was comfortably handled by Andrew Plummer. Regent should have added to their lead midway through the half, the home keeper saving well from Phil Kelly's shot before Matt Cripps headed against the bar and he then swung and missed his kick from the rebound, Jordan Heath then somehow fired wide from 6 yards. Regent did deservedly add to their lead in the 43rd minute when the keeper was unable to hold on to a cross and Phil Kelly was first to react and prodded home the ball for 0-2. Almost immediately Regent nearly added a third but the home defence did well to block both goal bound attempts and gave themselves a lifeline when they scored in injury time. A corner was only partially cleared and the ball was returned into the box and flicked home, squirming into the far corner for 1-2. HT 1-2
Phil Kelly almost gave the R's the perfect start again at the start of the half but once again the keeper saved well down low to his right and then shortly after blocked an effort from Ben Newson when he had been played through. The home side got at one stage what looked an unlikely equaliser when a cross from out wide which the Regent defence were appealing had gone out was forced home, Burnham not being distracted and heading back the cross which was scrambled home for 2-2 on 54 minutes. On 66 minutes Phil Kelly completed his hat- trick and what proved to be the winner with a audacious shot from just inside the oppositions half, his first time shot looping and swerving beyond the scrambling keeper to make it 2-3. The away side looked for an equaliser and went close when Matt Cripps blocked an effort on the line but the Burnham player was ruled offside anyhow. Jake Gordon nearly increased the lead but his shot from a tight angle was just wide of the far post as Regent saw out the game to win. FT 2-3
