A superb first half performance sees the R's collect three more points.

Brightlingsea Regent travelled to Cheshunt for their latest league game looking to avenge a 1-0 home defeat in mid October, since this defeat Regent had only lost one in 14 recording, 10 wins and 3 draws in that time which had lifted them to 8th in the table. The home side had done well to get the game on with late rain still putting the game in doubt until 2pm when the Referee carried out a further inspection.
Webster made one change to the starting line up with Jordan Heath returning to the starting team. A fairly even start in the opening moments but Regent soon took control in a dominant first half for the visitors. Ben Newson showed his early threat with a pass meeting his well timed run but his shot was just wide of the near post. The home side had their first chance with a shot from distance that was well handled by Andrew Plummer, who after that point watched on as Regent pinned the home side back with their tenacity and work ethic making it very hard for the home side to get anything going. A superb turn and pass from Ben Newson saw him move into the home half before finding Russell Malton, his cross was met by Jordan Heath but his shot was well saved by the home keeper. After 11 minutes Regent took a deserved lead, Matt Cripps timing his run to head home a Ricky Griggs corner to make it 0-1. Regent nearly doubled their lead but for a superb double save with the keeper first denying Ben Newson before an even more impressive point blank save from Jordan Heath. Matt Cripps and Ricky Griggs again combined but this time Matt's header had too much on it from a Ricky Griggs free-kick. Regent did make it 2-0 after 30 minutes when again Matt Cripps was first to a a throw into the Cheshunt box but he failed to get his shot off, Ben Newson finding Jordan Heath who made no mistake from the edge of the area to fire his right footed shot into the bottom corner. The home side were struggling to get anything going and Ben Newson working hard to demonstrate this won the ball deep in the home half and his pass was met by Russell Malton who's unerring strike was arrowed into the far bottom corner to make it 0-3 on 35 minutes. The home side were very fortunate to not be reduced to 10 men just moments later, Ben Newson again working so hard off the ball and robbing the defender who brought him down on the edge of the area with the nearest defender a good 10 yards away the Referee adjudged it not to be a goalscoring opportunity. Regent did add a fourth though on 40 minutes and again it was a ball well won in the midfield with Ollie Canfer then having the quality to slide a pass into Ben Newson who made no mistake slotting past the keeper for 0-4.
HT 0-4
The home side made a double substitution and started the half better. Andrew Plummer did well to punch a cross clear to safety as the home side looked for a breakthrough. A fairly non de script opening half to the second half was brought to life with a bizarre decision. A good delivery from a corner saw the header partially saved by Andrew Plummer, Amir Berkane looked to have cleared the ball on the line but the Assistant who wasn't in line with the goal line somehow gave the decision which seemed unbelievable with it hard to see a line with that area very muddy but despite this the Assistants decision made it 1-4. With this boost the home side nearly added another goal on virtually the next attack when a thunderous shot from the number 8 struck the top of the crossbar from 25 yards. Webster made two changes and changed the shape slightly and on 83 minutes Regent made it 1-5 with a well worked goal. Andrew Plummer collecting a cross before finding Warren Joseph, his pass finding Ricky Griggs who drove into the Cheshunt half before finding Ben Newson, he combined with Russell Malton before playing a pass into Russell who again finished superbly with a drive into the bottom corner.
FT 1-5
A very good first half performance from Regent who never afforded the home side any time and space and played some really good football to record another big three points.
