Brightlingsea Regent hit four as they rise to 11th.

Brightlingsea Regent welcomed Redbridge for the last game at North Road in 2014. Both sides came into the game in good form but it was Regent who ran out convincing 4-0 winners with the away side having two men sent off but with the score at 2-0 and 4-0 it didn't have a bearing on the game which was sponsored by Turner & May.
Regent pinned the away side back in the early part of the game but were unable to find a break through and the away side looked dangerous on the break committing lots of men forward but like Regent were unable to work any openings. On 18 minutes the R 's took the lead when the away side were unable to clear a free kick from 30 yards out wide. Josh Gould was first to the clearance and Jordan Heath then collected the ball before beating a defender and reversing the ball into the bottom corner for a great finish to make it 1-0. Despite still dominating large spells of the game it wasn't until injury time in the first half when Regent nearly added to their lead, Russell Malton seeing his strike from the right hand side of the penalty area cleared off the line. HT 1-0
The away side looked for an equaliser in the early stages of the half and nearly found it but Andrew Plummer did well to save both efforts with the second one from 8 yards forcing an excellent reflex save. Russell Malton was replaced on 58 minutes after turning his ankle and Webster changed the formation looking to get more control back. His change was rewarded early when a pass from Josh Gould was met by a well timed Phil Kelly run, he drove at the full back before picking out Jordan Heath, he fired into the bottom corner for 2-0 after 64 minutes. The Redbridge number 8 received a second yellow card on 68 minutes as the away side were reduced to 10 men. Ben Newson hit the post after a positive run down the side of the away side defence but didn't have to wait long to get on the score sheet. Webster made his second change on 74 minutes with TJ Amass replacing Amir and moments later a corner from Regent was only cleared to the edge of the area where Ben Newson collected the ball and fired into the goal for 3-0. Ben Newson added a fourth for the R's on 77 minutes with a lovely run and finish, he collected the ball before driving into the area beating a defender and bending into the far corner for 4-0. The away side then had another man sent off when the Redbridge number 6 received a second yellow card on 89 minutes. Ricky Griggs had a driving run which forced the keeper into a good save down low to his left in injury time as the game finished with the R's gaining three more points. FT 4-0
Another good win against an in form Redbridge and the 3 points takes Regent up to 11th in the table. Happy Crimbo to all!!
