Brightlingsea Regent produced a superb first half performance to make it 4 wins on the bounce.

Brightlingsea Regent welcomed Tilbury to North Road for the first return game of the season. Regent suffered a defeat to the Dockers on the opening day losing in a close game 2-1. To further prove the R's adaption to the Ryman league and their development during the season this ended with a comfortable 5-0 win despite a red card after 59 minutes making the second half a lot harder for the R's.
Webster made two changes from the away win at Thurrock last Saturday with Ben Newson replacing Jordan Heath and Andrew Plummer replacing Ryan Bedingfield in goal who was unavailable, TJ Amass also returned to the squad along with Josh Gould who had served a one game suspension. Regent started at a great pace and took the lead in the second minute with a superb flowing move. Phil Kelly collecting the ball in midfield and turning under pressure before passing to Michael Brothers, he controlled before crossing perfectly into the run of Ben Newson who volleyed past the away keeper for 1-0. The away side were under lots of pressure and struggled to find a foot hold in the game with almost constant pressure. Ben Newson and Phil Kelly looking capable of getting behind the away defence with most attacks, Ben was denied by the keeper who smothered well but after 21 minutes it was 2-0. Another quality goal with the same combination combining, Michael Brothers driving down the outside of the defender before cutting the ball back to Ben Newson who from 15 yards bent the ball first time into the far corner clipping off the post for a great finish. The away side forced a corner but Andrew Plummer did well to punch clear and set up another Regent attack. On 30 minutes it was 3-0, a Ricky Griggs corner was met first time on the volley by Matt Cripps with the ball flying into the far corner with a small deflection giving the keeper no chance. To further more show the confidence of Regent, a Ricky Griggs left footed free kick was perfectly flighted for Ben Newson who it looked had got his hatters but the ball had flicked off Matt Cripps as it nestled in the goal for 4-0 after just 35 minutes. The away side again looked to respond and had a better last 10 minutes with the left sided player in particular trying to be positive on the ball but any pressure was responded with a Regent attack and the R's looked far more dangerous. HT 4-0
The away side put Regent under pressure in the early stages and had two shots from distance that were wide and unable to work Andrew Plummer in the R's goal. After 59 minutes Regent were reduced to 10 men, Michael Brothers receiving a second yellow card which seemed very harsh in the context of the game and rather ruined the game as a contest. Webster made his first change shortly after with Ben Newson replaced by Amir Berkane with Ben on a yellow card. Tilbury now had lots of possession but Regent held their shape well and restricted the away side to long shots and crosses, at times Regent defended too deep and Webster made another change after 68 minutes with TJ Amass replacing Russell Malton. The final change for Regent on 77 minutes saw Josh Gould replace Jake Turner. Despite their possession the Dockers couldn't create any clear openings and Andrew Plummer claimed a couple of crosses well but was not forced into any notable saves and at the other end a bad goalkeeping error allowed Phil Kelly to make it 5-0 on 87 minutes when he tackled the keeper and slotted home. FT 5-0
A great win for Regent who stay in 14th position and made it 4 wins on the bounce.
