A 49th minute goal was enough for Cheshunt to take all three points on a frustrating night for the R's.

Brightlingsea Regent hosted Cheshunt for their latest league game, the recent rain fall had made the North Road pitch a decent passing surface for the game. Webster was boosted by the return of Russell Malton and Ben Newson from injury and the squad also included new signing Jordan Heath. He was without Sean Bartlett and Amir Berkane though who both sustained injuries in Saturday's defeat and was still without Phil Kelly through injury.
Regent almost made the perfect start to the game when Michael Brothers latched onto a mistake by the Cheshunt centre half after less than a minute but his shot was a little wild and high. The away side were working very hard and both teams played at a good tempo with the away side committing lots of fouls, a theme that continued throughout the first half with the Referee allowing persistent fouling and because of this the game was scrappy at times and Regent struggled to find any rhythm. The R's were given many set pieces due to the fouls but in general the delivery was poor and didn't cause the well drilled away side any issues. A fairly even half with neither keeper worked as such although an overhead kick from Michael Brothers was comfortably saved as was a Josh Gould header. In the 38th minute,Regent should have taken the lead, good work down the right from Ricky Griggs and Russell Malton who worked the ball in the box, Michael Brothers saw his shot well saved by the keeper with the rebound falling perfectly for Jake Turner but from 8 yards his shot was straight at the keeper who was laid in the goal. HT 0-0
The second half carried the same theme as such but after 49 minutes Cheshunt got what proved to be the winner, good play in midfield saw the away player break clear and his pass was perfect for the number 9 who rode the last ditch tackle before beating Andrew Plummer from close range to make it 0-1. Regent took too long to react to this and changes were made to spark the R's into life after the hour mark. Ben Newson working the keeper after a pass down the left of the centre half saw him free but a strong palm away for a corner denied him. Jordan Heath on as a sub for his debut then saw his header go straight to the keeper as he was unable to get a good purchase on it. With time running out finally Regent were finding more urgency and another good ball from Ricky Griggs saw Ben Newson meet it but from 8 yards his free header was over the bar. The away side made a break with time almost up and only really a second chance of the game for them but the substitutes chipped effort was just over of Andrew Plummer in the Regent goal and the bar. FT 0-1
A frustrating night for Regent against a hard working, well drilled away side who made the game ugly and got what they came for.
