Another 3 points dropped....

Another 3 points dropped.....We were all aboard the Tony Glew classic for our trip to Cambridge and our latest league game. We had the same squad from the midweek cup game v's Dagenham and with Philbo passing a pre-match fitness test, one change was made with Wallis dropping to the bench and Sambo coming back in to the starting line up. Playing at the Histon stadium we started the game well and immediately created a chance with Clarky playing in Rymer whose lovely run was unfortunately not met with a finish, which was narrowly wide. The home side were mainly being direct but with their lively forwards we couldn't afford to switch off. We went close from a couple of corners with Kev as usual proving to be a menace and Rymer then forced the keeper to save from a free kick. The home side with some more direct play went close but Sam came out and saved well. Gouldy then got himself involved with a bit of, off the ball nonsense and with his manly chest pushed the home player to the floor, who clearly will never find himself in a ring with that sort of durability. The home bench were calling for all sorts and at one stage I think I heard they wanted hanging brought back!! Gouldy received a yellow and quickly after Morley joined him in the book with some more theatrical play from the oppo. The Referee was finding it hard to keep control with some of the antics and it wasn't a great surprise when he succumbed and Morley received a second yellow with less than a minute of the half to go. Criminally we conceded from the subsequent free kick and went in at HT a man down and a goal down. HT 1-0
With a good talk and belief from the boys to still come out and win the game we continued to knock the ball about and again Rymer went close but his effort was just off target. Sam then produced a superb save from a corner to keep them at bay. We made our first change with Wallis coming on for Gouldy and a reshuffle nearly had immediate affect when Rymer went through but his left foot shot from a tight angle smashed against the woodwork. We then got a deserved equaliser with a brilliant team goal. Started from Jake at the back, through the midfield with some lovely pass and go's before Sambo found an exquisite finish in the top bins..1-1.. Barely 2 minutes later we undone all the hard work when a 25 yard effort beat Sam to put the home side back in to the lead..2-1. We came back again and Clarky showed unbelievable tekkers with control and left foot volley which smashed against the woodwork again. Dale came on for Philbo and gave a good account for the last 10 whipping in some quality balls but despite a good team performance once again we came away with nothing when deserving more. FT 2-1
After the game with the beers flowing on the Glew dream machine the boys were thinking of a night out to celebrate Morley's birthday but Clarky couldn't make it as he had promised his Mrs a night of cuddles and DVD's!! Bless him.
The Banta bus rolls on, Who owns the rascals above?? I know what your thinking..they must belong to a female member?? No they are mens!! Really!
